History of Malcolm Yards
Located in the
historic Prospect Park neighborhood, Malcolm Yards is a modern community
built with roots in the past. From The Market to the Station, Surly Brewing to
OShaughnessys Distillery, each amenity embraces the soul of the neighborhood
with a vision to invent and improve.
Malcolm Yards
has a long history of industrial uses. They have included manufacturing,
foundry, grain storage and milling support. Most recently, the site was home to
part of Factory Lumbers operations as a wood supply, milling and cutting
operation. They ceased operations in 2015 and the site has been largely vacant
since that time. The west end of the site was occupied by the former Harris
Canvas Shop building, which was demolished in late 2020 as part of public
infrastructure improvements. The site has since been redeveloped
into Malcolm Yards which includes The Market (a multicultural food hall), The Flats (income qualified apartments), The Station (market rate
apartments), and other future developments. Stop by and see all that
Malcolm Yards has to offer!
